If you are currently involved in athletics (football, baseball, volleyball, track & field, etc.) and are serious about using strength training to improve your performance then you NEED to know more about the sport. Most strength & conditioning programs will address strength, power, quickness, coordination, balance, and flexibility. The whole program will have numerous exercises, each targeting one of these areas. However, each lift performed in Weightlifting addresses ALL of these areas. Do you really want to spend 2 hours doing a multitide of different exercises when you can achieve the same (or better) level of training in 45 minutes with a only a few Weightlifting exercises?
